Digital payment solutions provider Paytm has announced that its app has crossed the 100-million mark on Google Play Store. With this, Paytm becomes the country’s first payments app to cross the 100-million download mark.
Speaking about the development, Deepak Abbot, senior VP, Paytm said, “We are overwhelmed with the 100 million downloads mark, reaching this milestone is a testimony to the efforts of the incredible team at Paytm. This achievement will offer us a strong boost as we work towards our goal of making India a digital-first economy.”
Recently, the company announced that it has expanded its services for the non-internet users. The company has introduced a toll-free number — 1800 1800 1234 — to enable customers and merchants without internet connection to pay and receive money instantly and also recharge their mobile phones.
In order to use the service, both customers and merchants have to register with Paytm via their mobile number and set a 4-digit Paytm PIN. Once done, then they have to enter the recipient’s mobile number, amount and their Paytm PIN in order to transfer the money from their Paytm wallet to another Paytm wallet.
But in order to setup this feature, users must have a smartphone with internet connection to setup this feature in their Paytm account. Moreover, the call made on the toll-free number should be done with the same mobile number which is registered with Paytm.
